The Mushroom Hills, also known as the Mushroom Zone, is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a northwestern region on Angel Island covered with vast hills and a plethora of Brobdingnagian Fungi.

History

When Angel Island began unexplainably moving towards Knothole, Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails arrived in Mushroom Hills to investigate. After a mishap, the duo managed to cross the mushroom-filled fields until they came under attack by an axe-wielding robot which Sonic quickly defeated, allowing them to proceed.

Some time later, Mushroom Hills became the site where Knuckles and the Chaotix assembled when Dr. Robotnik appeared in the Death Egg. Soon after, the doctor dropped two Burrobots in Mushroom Hills to find the island's Chaos Emeralds, but the Chaotix successfully destroyed them and the crisis was soon averted.

Note: From this point, the Mushroom Hills' history continues from its new existence in the altered timeline.
