The Civil Protection Robot is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a mass-produced model of robot police officers who serve the Onyx City Council in Silver's future.
History[]
The Silver Age[]
The Civil Protection Robots were the feared enforcers of the work system imposed by the council on the inhabitants of Onyx City. They were supposedly meant to "help" the citizens if they had trouble with their work assignments, but this amounted to arresting anyone who failed to report for work. Even Silver the Hedgehog feared to challenge them directly, resorting to psychic trickery on one occasion to cause one to slip so that one such citizen could make a run for it.[1]
Several Civil Protection Robots are on patrol in the City Council's Tower every night. One particular night, they would be ordered by the Onyx City Council to capture Silver, Professor Von Schlemmer and Gold the Tenrec as they were meeting in secret without consent.[2]
Powers and abilities[]
The Civil Protection Robots are equipped with a blaster that can project an electrical yellow whip which they use to restrain enemies. These whips are strong enough to shock Silver despite protecting himself with a psychokinetic shield and knock him out with one blow to the neck.[2]
Trivia[]
- The Civil Protection Robots' design bear heavy resemblance to SWATbots, though elements of the Egg Gunner from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) are also evident.
