Silver's future is a location in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is the home era of Silver the Hedgehog, occurring roughly two hundred years after the Prime Zone's present. The nature of this future timeline often changes due to Silver's time traveling altering the past, but it is always in differing states of turmoil due to various unrelated events that occur in the past, the reason Silver time travels in the first place.

History[]

Past[]

In the earliest known incarnation of Silver's future, the world was doomed by the release of the monstrous Iblis, one of Solaris' halves. As a result, the world was a desolate wasteland ravaged by flames and lava, with Silver making countless attempts to stop it with the help of Blaze.[1]

In a possible event of the Time Eater incident, Sonic and a future version of himself would venture through a ruined city in the apocalyptic future, but the hedgehog would slowly forget these events ever happened.[2][3]

Eventually, Silver and Blaze saw an apparent ally in the form of Mephiles (one of Solaris' halves), who told them that they could undo the catastrophe by going back in time and eliminating the supposed "Iblis Trigger", none other than Sonic himself. This creature's claims proved to be lies, though the heroes were able to stop Iblis, at the cost of the cat sacrificing herself. This future was ultimately erased for good when Sonic and Princess Elise travelled to the past and removed Solaris from existence.[1]

In the aftermath, the future changed for good, with technology advanced enough to create a camera that could turn objects into cards. Eggman Nega, the descendant of the infamous Dr. Eggman, stole said camera to dispose of his ancestor and improve his family's reputation in the future. However, when his attempts failed due to intervention from Sonic and his friends, as well as Silver himself, the villain tried to turn Sonic's World into a card, thereby destroying the planet in the future, but was stopped by the white hedgehog and turned into a card himself.[4]

The next incarnation of Silver's future was in ruins once again when Eggman Nega resurfaced and released the monstrous Ifrit from its home Zone, the Chaotic Inferno Zone, in the present. Luckily, his plans were foiled and Ifrit was sealed in its dimension, saving the future once again.[5][6] With all of these catastrophes being aborted, the timeline was in peace during the Wisp incident.[7] However, the infernal future from the Solaris incident was restored during a possible event of the Time Eater incident. Sonic, accompanied by a younger version of himself, ventured through this wasteland, and later fought Silver for a Chaos Emerald. In the aftermath, the future was restored back to normal.[3]

The Silver Age[]

Professor Von Schlemmer, a scientist from Onyx City's Science Center, later discovered the existence of the Genesis Portals and their cause from this future. Fearing what could result if they were employed by evil powers, Von Schlemmer recruited Silver to find the portals and close them using his psychic abilities. Deeming Von Schlemmer's discovery another of his "crackpot theories" though, the Onyx City Council dismissed the professor when he appealed to the council. As the professor and Silver got acquainted, they were contacted by Gold the Tenrec, a rogue member of the City Council, who revealed the council was secretly conducting dangerous experiments with the Genesis Portals which threatened to unleash the Second Devourer on their world.[8][9] The heroes were soon after caught by the City Council, who used Gold's abilities to open a Genesis Portal that lead the Second Devourer into Onyx City, where it began turning everything to stone. However, Silver chose to make his stand against the monster and resealed it inside the Genesis Portals. Soon after though, Silver, Gold and Professor Von Schlemmer fell through a stray Genesis Portal.[10][11]
