Robotropolis (pronounced "Robot-tropolis") is a location that appears in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. It is a large, yet dangerous city on Mobius.[1]

Description[]

Like many of the towns on Mobius, Robotropolis displays a cartoon-like architecture. The city has plates of metal fixed to the walls, as well as seemingly advanced technology incorporated into its structures. Although the city is always dangerous, it is inhabited by regular people who live normal lives. Statues of Dr. Robotnik can be found throughout the city.[1]

History[]

Sonic Christmas Blast[]

On one Christmas, the inhabitants of Robotropolis were fooled by Dr. Robotnik's scheme to promote himself as "Robotniklaus" and have the citizens of Robotropolis deliver Christmas gifts to him. Sonic, wanting to get presents for Princess Sally, went to Robotropolis, only to find all the stores empty and people missing. After rescuing a little boy, Sonic learned that the inhabitants had been enslaved in Dr. Robotnik's robot factory. After rescuing Santa Claus and unlocking the power of the Ring of Ultimate Velocity, Sonic reclaimed all of Robotnik's stolen presents and saved Christmas in Robotropolis and all over Mobius.[1]

Points of interest[]

  • Jumbotron: A large monitor with loudspeakers that announces news to the people of Robotropolis and Mobius. Dr. Robotnik used the jumbotron to have Robot Santa promote him as "Robotniklaus".[1]
  • Stacey's: A shopping center where Robotniklaus set up his grotto to demand presents from children. Robotnik cleared the mall out, preventing Sonic and Tails from getting gifts for Sally.[1]
  • Dr. Robotnik's fortress: Unlike his previous fortress, Robotnik's new fortress is built on a precarious cliff. The building is "R"-shaped with the lower half resembling a castle with a drawbridge while the top is industrial. For his Christmas scheme, Robotnik had many chimneys built into his fortress so all the citizens of Robotropolis could climb into his house and give him their presents.[1]

Trivia[]

  • Robotropolis could be a tie-in to the successor TV series or the comics. Both had machine-industrial cities called "Robotropolis" where the series' respected Dr. Robotnik rules from.
    • Robotropolis is the only variation of these cities that is pronounce differently.
    • Both this city and Robotropolis from Sonic Underground has organic inhabitants.
  • The city may have its own currency instead of the regular mobiums, as Sonic charged Scratch and Grounder "Robotnikbucks" while disguised as a trash collector.
