The Crabmeat is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a mass-produced, crab-based Badnik model created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Based on crabs, Crabmeats have red cephalothoraxes with gray underbellies and four gray and short crustatian-based legs with claw-like feet, which allows them to scuttle around. They also have gray eyestalks protruding from an oblong hole in their cephalothoraxes with two cartoonish photo receptors located on top of each of them, and two short antennae above their eye stalks. They also have two cable-like gray arms with large and round pincers on the end of each arm.

History[]

Past[]

Created by Dr. Eggman, the Crabmeats were first used during an incident on South Island[1] and later on at the start of an incident involving the Time Eater.[2][3]

A giant Crabmeat later attacked Tails while the fox was looking for Ancient Gears in Green Seaside Zone. Unfortunately for the robot, Sonic came in at the moment and destroyed the giant Crabmeat.[4]

More recently, the Crabmeats were used by Dr. Eggman again when he built a massive amusement park in space to harness the Wisps. Shortly afterward, on Sonic's birthday, some of the earliest Crabmeat models made were kidnapped by the Time Eater and sent to a past version of Green Hill Zone.[2][3]

Worlds Collide[]

In the reality created by the second Genesis Wave, a Crabmeat joined Orbot, Cubot and a Reggae for a game of cards while Dr. Eggman and Dr. Wily enacted their schemes for universal domination.[5]

Shattered World Crisis[]

Worlds Unite[]

Note: From the readers' point of view, this picks up from where the Crabmeats' original timeline ended.

Over time, some scrapped Crabmeats were left behind in a deserted Eggman junkyard which Zavok, Zeena and Zor reanimated with their magnetic powers and used to defeat Sonic the Hedgehog during their visit there.[6] These events were later prevented from ever happening thanks to a time traveling Xander Payne.[7]

Variants[]

Giant variant[]

The giant variant of the Crabmeats looks similar to the standard Badniks, except that it is much larger. Because of its colossal size, it is noted to be much stronger and heavier than the standard Crabmeat model. It, however, has a weak spot: its eyes.[4]
