Vile Peter is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. He is an evil elf who used to work for Father Christmas and wants to ruin Christmas.
History[]
Past[]
Vile Peter used to make toys in Father Christmas' workshop and was one of his best helpers. One day, he went crazy and grew to hate Christmas. Vile Peter attempted to ruin the holiday, prompting Father Christmas to lock him up in a cell in his workshop due to this.
Black Christmas[]
On the first Christmas Eve after Doctor Robotnik was overthrown, Vile Peter escaped from his cell and made his way to the Emerald Hill Zone. He set out using a magic jar to imprison the children of the Emerald Hill Zone, and had captured half of the children in town when he was spotted by Sonic the Hedgehog. Peter did not know who Sonic was, but when Sonic correctly surmised that Peter had something to do with the missing children, Peter used some magic powder to knock Sonic off his feet. Sonic recovered quickly and charged at Peter, who suddenly disappeared. Fortunately, he was captured by Father Christmas (who had come to collect him) and teleported Peter into his magic sack. Father Christmas then opened Peter's magic jar, freeing all the children he kidnapped, and returned Peter to his cell.[1]

Vile Peter possesses a magic jar. If Peter points the jar at a person and removes the lid, the target will shrink down to miniature size and be sucked inside the jar. Peter also possesses a bag of magic powder. Peter can throw a handful of his powder at someone, which functions like an energy blast.
Trivia[]
- Vile Peter is based on the character of Zwarte Piet (literally Black Pete), a companion of Sinterklass (Saint Nicholas) in the folklore of the Netherlands and Belgium.
- Vile Peter's kidnapping of children is similar to Krampus from Alpine Christmas traditions but, unlike Krampus who only took bad kids he makes no distinction and is fully a villain.
