Mekanik is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It is a gigantic Godzilla-like Badnik, built by Doctor Robotnik. Grimer claimed it was mostly funded by taxes.

History[]

The Rampage of Mekanik[]

Disappointed that he could no longer terrorize the Emerald Hill Zone (since its residents had been secretly transported to the Floating Island[1]), Robotnik unleashed the Mekanik on the Stone Tower Zone. Its armour proved to be impervious both to Sonic's Spin Attack and to Shortfuse the Cybernik's laser blasts (although Amy Rose did manage to get its attention by firing an arrow in between its armour). It was strong and fast enough to catch Sonic in its hand, and its fire-breath could even knock Shortfuse out of the sky.[2]

Eventually, however, it was defeated when Sonic and Shortfuse worked together. Shortfuse concentrated his lasers on Mekanik's leg, where the armour was weakest, which allowed Sonic to break a hole on the armour with a direct Spin Attack. Shortfuse then distracted the monster, while Sonic messed with the wiring inside and then used his super-speed to shake the machine apart from the inside.[3]
