The zone is infamous for holding a chock full of ghosts. Aquatic Mine Zone was an abandoned mining facility used long ago to store the water fluids of the area.
Description[]
An abandoned mining station left long ago, the Aquatic Mine Zone is beneath Pumpkin Hill Zone, as it holds a vast amount of switches and changing water levels that can be altered by said switches. Knuckles had assumed that the miners needed switches to balance the water levels since draining the mine wouldn't have been easy nor possible.
History[]
In the past, Knuckles came to the Aquatic Mine Zone to look for the Emerald Shards for the Master Emerald. It is presumed that Knuckles collected all of the Emerald Shards there.[1]
Knuckles and the Chaotix–Vector, Espio, and Charmy–went to the Aquatic Mine Zone after encountering the Hooligans, where both parties were present in the mine to search for a Chaos Emerald located in this zone. Whereas the Hooligans had trouble finding the emerald due to confusing pathways, Knuckles and the Chaotix were having trouble dealing with themselves, being disturbed by ghosts and the fear that the Hooligans have found the emerald. However, Knuckles and the Chaotix were able to find the emerald in Chip's possession.[2] The group subsequently earned Chip's trust fought to protect him from the Hooligans. The caverns proved to be infested with Dark Gaia Creatures, most notably the monstrous Dark Gaia Titan. Due to damage caused by the planet shattering and the Hooligans, the caverns began to flood with Knuckles and the Chaotix trapped inside them.[3] Fortunately, they managed to escape utilizing one of the switches located in the mine, and caught up with the Hooligans. After confronting the thieves and a pursuing Dark Gaia Titan, Knuckles and the Chaotix escaped with the Emerald and Chip.[4]
