Shadow, strike him with your Spear of Light. If you can charge the red light, you can launch an even stronger attack.

E-123 Omega, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

The Spear of Light (光の槍 Hikari no Yari?) is a chaos power used by Super Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) during the battle with Solaris. It is an augmented version of the Chaos Spear technique, where Super Shadow releases several Projectiles at once that home into his opponent.

Description[]

When performing this move, Super Shadow charges up red energy in his hands. Once he has gathered enough, Super Shadow simultaneously releases nine red destructive energy projectiles more powerful than Chaos Lances in a circular pattern, which will home onto Solaris with enough force to penetrate his light shells.

To perform Spear of Light in gameplay, Super Shadow's Super Gauge has to be fully charged, which can be done by holding down Xbox-Button-RT/R1. Once the Super Gauge is fully charged, the player must press XboxX/Square to fire the Spear of Light.

Super Shadow using the weaker version of the Spear of Light

If Super Shadow's Super Gauge is not fully charged when attempting the Spear of Light, Super Shadow will perform a weaker version of the Spear of Light where he shoots one projectile at a time that each home-in on Solaris, but will not be strong enough to damage him. If Super Shadow's Super Gauge is partially charged when launching the projectile, it will drain the Super Gauge for each projectile used, and therefore has to be recharged.

Trivia[]

  • In the second phase of the boss battle, the Spear of Light ends up moving in a loop behind Solaris' core and vanish after dealing damage, instead of homing directly on Solaris' core.
