Sonic Wind (ソニックウインド Sonikkuuindo?) is one of Sonic the Hedgehog's special attacks in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. When performing this technique, Sonic damages his opponents with a blue wind current.

Description[]

Sonicwindpose

Sonic's pose when using Sonic Wind.

When performing Sonic Wind, Sonic raises his right fist and calls out the move's name. He will then create a small cyclone made of sharp, sky blue winds, which ensnare his opponent. In gameplay, Sonic Wind wraps around the opponent wherever they are, and when it hits it both causes damage and impedes the opponent's movements.

Sonic Wind is first performed by Sonic during the final boss battle against him in the Dark story. Here, Sonic will perform this technique if Shadow trails too far behind on the runway. The attack can be evaded by running forward. Performing it leaves Sonic temporary unguarded, allowing Shadow to attack him.

Sonic Wind can only be performed by the player by playing as Sonic in the games' two-player mode. To use it, the player must press DreamcastB/SNNBGAMECUBEDISCO/Gamecube X Button on the ground after collecting 40 Rings. To use it again, the player has to collect another 40 Rings. Falling into a bottomless pit without gaining rings afterward gifts the player a free Sonic Wind. Gathering every twenty Rings when Sonic is in his special suit also gives him a Sonic Wind. In two-player mode, Sonic Wind is nearly impossible to avoid unless the other player is Metal Sonic, who can use Black Shield to block it.
