Captain Rescue[1] is a character that appears in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. He is a retired raccoon superhero, who was best known for his arsenal of gadgets summoned from his utility belt.

Appearance[]

Captain Rescue is a tall, anthropomorphic raccoon with brown and black fur, and short legs. Years ago, he was quite muscular, but nowadays, he has an extremely large gut. He has a long muzzle with a black nose at the end, raised fur on his forehead, and a patch of black fur on his face that resembles a black mask. He also has a thick black and brown striped tail. His attire includes a yellow jumpsuit with the letters "C" and "R" written in blue on his chest, a red cape, white gloves, and a utility belt; years ago, his attire was pristine, but now it is torn up in different places and has patches sewn onto it.

History[]

TV series[]

Past[]

In the past, Captain Rescue was considered one of Mobius's greatest heroes, operating as a cape-and-costumed superhero. Some of his earliest heroics involved stopping a theft of a bank and saving a town from an active volcano. However, he eventually retired.[1]

Season one[]

AoStH Robotnik manipulates Captain Rescue

Captain Rescue being manipulated by Dr. Robotnik, from "Over the Hill Hero".

In the present day, Captain Rescue and Sonic had a not-so-pleasant first encounter, the latter calling him an "old timer" when the former offered his help. Later, he was manipulated and tricked by Dr. Ivo Robotnik into thinking that the hedgehog did not want his help, only to find out too late that he had become an accomplice in trapping Sonic in the Egg-O-Matic Force Field. Captain Rescue later found himself in his trailer, crestfallen and giving up until he was encouraged by Tails into becoming the hero he once always was. He thus went with the fox to Hill Top Village in the Rescue Rocket to save Sonic. After being sent into space using the Rescue Rocket, the hedgehog was able to free himself from the Egg-O-Matic Force Field thanks to the thin air pressure that was in space. After then stopping the doctor's attempt to destroy Hill Top Village, Rescue and Sonic parted ways on good terms.[1]

Personality[]

Captain Rescue is intelligent, brave and tries his best to help others, even if it does not turn out well in his generally accident-prone nature because of his gadgets that would often backfire on him. He is, however, exceptionally gullible, very clumsy and prone to emotional manipulation.[1]

Powers and abilities[]

In his earlier years, Captain Rescue had a godly physique with overly developed muscles and herculean strength to match. He seemed to possess a number of natural superpowers, such as super strength and the ability to fly.[1]

During his retirement and inactivity, Captain Rescue became visibly overweight, though retaining his muscle build. This seems to have hindered his powers of flight, as his attempts to do so are seen always failing.[1]

Equipment[]

In his earlier years, Captain Rescue complimented his superpowers with a number of multipurpose gadgets, which came from his utility belt. Many of his gadgets include a boomerang, a bell, and a grapple. However, after retiring, his gadgets have become largely non-functional or prone to malfunction, which constantly backfire on him and anybody nearby.[1]
