The Speed-Bot[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic Underground television series. It is a roboticized tortoise-like robot created from several fast mobians.
Appearance[]
The Speed-Bot is a bulky, tortoise-based robot with a yellow neck and head, and a red and blue shell-like body supported by two large green and blue wheels, and two smaller sets of green and blue treads. It also possesses two blue fins on its body, a red antenna on its head, and a set of sharp white teeth.[1]
History[]
TV series[]
Season one[]
Dr. Robotnik spent weeks capturing the fastest mobians he could find. He later used his Roboticizer to fuse them into the Speed-bot. Although Robotnik knew that it was nowhere near as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog, he still decided to use the Speed-Bot as bait, entering it in the Mobius Challenge Race in which the winner would be proclaimed the fastest being on Mobius. However, Sonic did pass up on the challenge, realizing that it was a fool-proof trap, and the Speed-Bot ended up racing a disguised Dingo instead. During the race, Dingo purposefully rammed the Speed-Bot off the track, causing it to bounce off a wall and land on top of Bartleby, who was sitting in the stands. This appeared to damage the Speed-bot to an extent.[1]
Personality[]
The Speed-Bot is completely loyal to its creator, Dr. Robotnik, and also very competitive, as shown when it raced against Dingo.[1]
Powers and abilities[]
The Speed-Bot is capable of driving at high speeds, possessing the combined speed of several fast mobians. Despite this, it cannot reach levels anywhere near that achieved by Sonic the Hedgehog.[1]
Trivia[]
- The Speed-Bot resembles a tortoise, which (like hedgehogs) are usually regarded as slow creatures. This may be a reference to Aesop's fable, The Tortoise and the Hare.
