The Speed Star is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a transforming vehicle built by Miles "Tails" Prower and employed by the Freedom Fighters.
Description[]
Appearance[]
The Speed Star is a blue and streamline convertible. In the middle, it has two equal-sized depressions in both sides and a large fin above each of the hind wheels. On the front, it has a figure of Sonic's head and a large, almost obtuse "U" shaped clear section with four bulbs inside it, two built on the right and left stacked on one another. The wheels of the vehicle are black with red wheel covers and a white line across them. In airplane-mode, it sprouts wings with jet exhausts from the underside, removes the wheels, reveals a fin each jet exhaust and replaces the front bumper with a nose cone.
Features and abilities[]
The Speed Star is able to transform itself into an airplane as well as a convertible, allowing for both aerial and ground-travel.[1]
History[]
Shattered World Crisis[]
Act One[]
The Speed Star was used by Team Fighters to transport themselves to the Chaos Emerald Championship,[2] and later to take themselves, along with Knuckles the Echidna and Chip, back to the Sky Patrol after the event.[1]
Trivia[]
- The Speed Star is based on the vehicle of the same name that appears in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.
- Tails being the creator of the Speed Star is a reference to the origins of the Speed Star in this game, which was revealed on the official website to have been built by Tails, who used parts left over from an attempted invasion by Dr. Eggman.
