The Back Rotor (バックローター Bakku Rōtā?) is a move that appears in Sonic Advance 2. It is the Quick Reverse technique used by Miles "Tails" Prower.

Description[]

When performing the Back Rotor, Tails spins his twin-tails underneath him while in midair and moves backwards, like an upside down helicopter. This causes him to stop and lurk backwards a few feet, thereby rapidly changing his flight direction.

In gameplay, the Back Rotor is quite useful when Tails is heading for obstacles or is about to have an awkward landing. Additionally, the move will not cancel the momentum Tails receives from the Boost Mode. It can also destroy enemies if Tails makes contacts with them from above with his spinning tails. However, it leaves Tails vulnerable to anything behind him. Like most of his other Mid-Air Trick Actions, the Back Rotor also tends to make Tails lose momentum when he lands. To use the Back Rotor in gameplay, the player must press the R Button after being launched into midair by gimmicks, like Springs or Ramps.
