The Metropolis Zone is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a city-based Zone on Westside Island that is controlled by Dr. Eggman. It serves as the base for the Metropolis Egg Army.

History[]

Past[]

After defeating Dr. Eggman and his assistant, Dr. Julian Snively, on South Island, Sonic Hedgehog chased the two mad doctors down to Westside Island, where he teamed up with his new sidekick and best buddy Miles "Tails" Prower as well as the Freedom Fighters. The Metropolis Zone was one of the Zones they passed through in their efforts to defeat the mad doctors, whose goal on Westside Island was major construction and refinements as part of their plan for world domination.[1][2]

The Shattered World Crisis[]

Note: From the readers point of view, this picks up from where the Metropolis Zone's original timeline ended.
Shield Generator

The Metropolis Zone's shield generator, from Sonic the Hedgehog #255.

At some point, Dr. Eggman stationed a faction of his Egg Army in Metropolis Zone- the Metropolis Egg Army. Bunnie D'Coolette infiltrated the Metropolis Egg Army, which was working on a flying fortress to replace the Death Egg. After Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails arrived to retrieve her, they worked together to steal a Shield Generator for their new Sky Patrol base. They were opposed in these efforts by the Egg Army and Badnik Horde, but were aided by an earthquake that served as one of the forewarnings of the the Shattered World Crisis.[3][4]
