Toadzilla is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It was a large robotic toad made up by Tails when he was pressed to think of a speech on the spot as a special guest at Sonic-Con.

History

Toadzilla was initially inspired by a real toad that Tails encountered in an exceptionally thick part of the forest. As Tails noted the forest was too thick to fly through, he was tripped up by the fly-hunting toad as he instead ran across a pond, trying not to be late to the Sonic fan convention.

Once at the convention and standing at the speaking booth, Tails decided that for his speech he would come up with something more exciting; the story was altered so that rather than running through a pond on his way there, Tails was flying the Tornado across Crush Water Canyon when he encountered Toadzilla, one of Robotnik's robots.

Tails claimed to have leaped from his plane with a gun in a last-minute effort to defeat him and, once out of ammo, continued on to face Toadzilla directly 'fox-to-toad'. Tails landed him a mighty blow and at just the same moment, the cliff he was standing on broke and he fell into the waters of the river. Toadzilla was now in his element, however Tails used his tails to whip up a whirlpool in order to defeat him.

It was at this moment Tails' speech and Sonic-Con were interrupted by the real Doctor Robotnik attacking the convention center with a real robot.
