The Flicky's Super State is a transformation that appears in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. It is the Super State of Flickies, achieved by the power of the Super Emeralds through Super Tails. In gameplay, they will come to Tails' aid when he transforms to attack nearby targets.

Appearance

When assuming their Super States, the Flickies blue plumage turn golden yellow and pulses, through they retain the red markings on their chins.

Powers and abilities

While in the their Super States, the Flickies' innate abilities far surpasses their normal ones, making them powerful enough to smash Badniks with a single strike. In addition to retaining their flight capabilities, the Flickies gain virtual invulnerability, allowing them to ram into foes without taking damage

The Flickies' transformation is directly connected to Tails'; the Flickies remain in their Super State as long as Tails does and when he reverts back to normal, so does the Flickies.

Gameplay

In gameplay, four Flickies in their Super State will surround Super Tails whenever he transforms. While present, these "Super Flickies" will instantly and automatically attack any enemy that comes in the near vicinity of Super Tails, be they normal Badniks or even bosses. Upon impacting the target, they will deal one hit worth of damage which will instantly destroy Badniks and even Hyudoros, the latter which is otherwise indestructible. This mechanic is similar to the Chao Attack, except it happens automatically. Once Super Tails' transformation ends, the Flickies will revert back to normal as well and fly away.

In Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Flickies in their Super State appear in Tails' All-Star Move when he hits a foe. After he hits a foe, they will be seen spinning around his/her head.

Archie Comics

The Flickies' Super State in the Archie Comics.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the Flickies' Super State appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog #66 as constructs made up by Hyper Tails. They were used to combat Ugly Naugus, but were ultimately frozen solid by the villain.
