Flicky Island is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a small landmass located in the Southern Mobian Ocean. With Angel Island as a close second, it is known to be one of the last true unspoiled ecosystems on Mobius not yet ruined by Dr. Ivo Robotnik. There are recent indications though, that it may have been conquered by Dr. Eggman with hardly any effort.
The island consists of regions that are covered with ancient structures of some unknown civilization as well as soil deposits that take on a curious checkerboard pattern. The most unique feature about this atoll however, is that all the native plant-life blooms rare and precious gemstones in great quantities, making the island's economic value unfathomable. These jewels appear to be the only food source in the diet of the native Flicky bird, the island's dominant species which is found almost nowhere else.
The nature of the Flickies and the apparent gemological value of Flicky Island garnered great personal attention from Dr. Robotnik in 3235 who concluded the reason behind the atoll's flora and fauna was from the energies of a Chaos Emerald located in another Zone hidden on the island.
After exploiting the Flickies' lack of fear towards strangers and roboticizing himself a flock of Flickiebots, Robotnik chased after a Flicky heading towards a giant ring leading to the Flicky Zone. Sonic the Hedgehog pursued and confronted Robotnik in the Flicky Zone and fought him in his Techno Bodyshell Battlesuit. Though Sonic won, Robotnik trapped him in his rigged cape and proceeded to remove the emerald from a giant Flicky statue. The statue was booby-trapped however, came to life after the emerald was pulled out, and uttered a roar that caused the Flicky Zone and its entrance to start collapsing. Sonic escaped and tried to rescue Robotnik who got his arm stuck in the closing portal as he refused to let go of the emerald. A Flicky inside the zone bit his hand, presumably eating the emerald, and forced him to let go so the door would close. As a result, all but a few Flickies returned to the zone and with his Battlesuit destroyed, Robotnik was trapped on Flicky Island for a short period.
Some time after he arrived on Mobius Prime in 3236, Dr. Eggman established a base of operations on Flicky Island and placed one of his Sub-Bosses there to ensure it stayed under his control. Following the Chaotix's attack and destruction of the Eggman Empire's communication center in New Megaopolis, all contact with Flicky Island's occupation forces were lost. When Snively tried to establish a link to any sub-bosses still hooked up to the Eggnet and encountered Regina F, the status of the atoll's unknown officer-in-charge was listed as ??????.
- It is unknown whether Chaos Emeralds still grow on the island after the merging of the emeralds during the Great Harmony.
