Fly Fly Freddy is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He was a mobian fly and a former member of Sir Charles Hedgehog's spy network in Robotropolis.

Appearance[]

Freddy was a rather tall and red humanoid fly with multiple eyes.

History[]

After Sir Charles Hedgehog retained his free will, he gathered Fly Fly Freddy and other mobians and formed the Robotropolis Spy Network. He went into Robotropolis with the other members and spied on Dr. Robotnik and report it back to the Knothole Freedom Fighters. He was first seen in an abandoned shack outside Robotropolis, assisting Sonic, Hamlin, Penelope, Arlo, and others to rescue Tails, Sally, Bunnie, and Antoine from an ambush of cloaked Combots.[1]

It is uncertain whether Freddy knew about Sleuth Dawg's defection to Dr. Robotnik but it is known that it was Sleuth who handed over the members of the spy network, including Freddy, to Robotnik and fed them into the Roboticizer. Freddy was last seen after King Acorn was plucked from the Zone of Silence when Sleuth revealed himself to be a traitor. The roboticized Freddy attacked Sonic at the original Lake of Rings, but was destroyed by Knuckles the Echidna at the last minute.[2]

Trivia[]

  • According to writer Ian Flynn, their attempts to rebuild Fly Fly Freddy, let alone de-roboticize him, have been a complete failure.
  • Fly Fly Freddy's name may be based on that of hip hop pioneer Fab 5 Freddy, as the names of other members of the Robotropolis Spy Network, Sleuth "Doggy" Dawg and Kicks a lot, are based on musicians' names.
