Flying (ファン飛行 Fan hikō?, lit. "Fan flight") is one of Cream the Rabbit's signature moves in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. When using this move, Cream flaps her large ears to achieve flight.

Description

When using Flying, Cream flaps her large ears like wings, thus creating a lift that allows her to fly through the air like a bird. While moving through the air thanks to Flying, Cream can move at exceedingly fast speeds, enough to let her keep up with Sonic the Hedgehog.

In gameplay, using Flying lets the player to move through the air in any direction with virtually no restrictions. This allows the player to reach higher places that would be otherwise unreachable or cross gaps and bottomless pits. However, Cream can only use Flying for a short time; after that, she will become too exhausted to maintain Flying and she will slowly drop down from where she would be in flight at this point. Compared to Tails' Propeller Flying, Cream can fly faster but not as high or underwater.

Game appearances

Sonic Advance 2

Flying first appeared in Sonic Advance 2 as one of Cream's standard moves. To perform Flying in gameplay, the player has to press GameboyA during a Spin Jump to get off the ground. The player can then either continuously tap GameboyA to ascend, or let go to descend. While using Flying, the player can control Cream's movements with the D-pad. The move can be cancelled at anytime by pressing GameboyB and immediately drop to the ground.

Sonic Advance 3

Flying reappeared in the sequel to Sonic Advance 2, namely Sonic Advance 3. In this game, Cream can only use Flying when having Sonic, Knuckles or Amy as her partner. Otherwise, the gameplay controls for Flying are the same as in Sonic Advance 2 .
