Result: AFK button has been implemented.

Should we add an AFK button for chat? It would automatically mark you as away, and I'd find that useful, as sometimes people don't know I'm AFK because they may not see me say brb and chat won't mark me as away unless I'm on a different window/tab. GraveEclipse56 7 22:16, October 21, 2012 (UTC)

I support. When I'm on a new tab, it takes a few minutes for the chat to say I'm away. An AFK button sounds useful for when you want the chat to know you're away right when you're away. MetalMickey272

I like this idea, as I am often in another tab. Also, might I suggest another option? Would it be possible if the chat could ping you if your username is mentioned, or if you receive a PM? This could make the tab flash or something. Might be helpful, as when I'm in another tab, I never notice if anyone asks me anything or PMs me until it's pointed out to me. So I scrolled through Gamedezyner's contributions on SFW, and found that he has been editing MediaWiki:Chat.js. Sure enough, there's code for an AFK button there. Could an admin add the code so we can test it out, please?Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 2013 15:57, December 11, 2012 (UTC)

I attempted to add the button before, but it didn't work. Trying to do it again will likely provide me with similar results. There actually is a section for the AFK button, but it's on another page, the script of which is imported to Mediawiki/Chat.js...the code for the AFK button should be here, if I remember correctly. Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 201321:51, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

I replaced the coding I just added with the AFK coding from SFW. I went on their chat to see how it works exactly, but I don't see a AFK button on there. The closest was to that was to "enable chathacks", which contained the AFK button coding on their Mediawiki chat page, but it had no effect. ★EYCEST★R★ ★Contact★ 15:36, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

Actually, I asked the creator of the coding himself, but he didn't reply or did any gesture! Which I find truly unfare, the very own creator not helping other wikis.
