Result: AFK button has been implemented.
Should we add an AFK button for chat? It would automatically mark you as away, and I'd find that useful, as sometimes people don't know I'm AFK because they may not see me say brb and chat won't mark me as away unless I'm on a different window/tab. GraveEclipse567 22:16, October 21, 2012 (UTC)

Sure. (Ohmygod123 (talk) 22:17, October 21, 2012 (UTC))

I support. When I'm on a new tab, it takes a few minutes for the chat to say I'm away. An AFK button sounds useful for when you want the chat to know you're away right when you're away. MetalMickey272

If such program exists then I support.
One does, one can see a button like it on the SFW chat. GraveEclipse567

I agree! SFW has this feature too. a seperate user can have it. its called chat hacks. TurquoiseReplacementSplashTheHedgehog 22:25, October 21, 2012 (UTC)

Why not. SilverPlays97 (Wall) (Contributions) 22:31, October 21, 2012 (UTC)

I support. walkincheck !

If such a feature indeed exists, I don't see anything wrong with implimenting it. Might as well support. Lloyd the Cat"I don't die. I just go on adventures." 22:36, October 21, 2012 (UTC)

I support.

This sounds good. I like to see a button like this instead of always saying "BRB" or "Back" all the time. Let's get on voting, why not? BlueSpeeder (talk) - 6:31PM-10/21/12

Per Blue. I've really been irritated when my computer refuses to say I'm away...I totally support. --Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 201301:01, October 22, 2012 (UTC)

Per everyone so far. Will RoseScout /=\"+ THIS. SIGNATURE. IS. FALSE. 03:14, October 22, 2012 (UTC)

I like this idea, as I am often in another tab. Also, might I suggest another option? Would it be possible if the chat could ping you if your username is mentioned, or if you receive a PM? This could make the tab flash or something. Might be helpful, as when I'm in another tab, I never notice if anyone asks me anything or PMs me until it's pointed out to me. Or when it's too late to answer a question. Trak Nar Ramble on 03:17, October 22, 2012 (UTC)

I think there should be a ping whenever someone says something in chat and a Ping for PM. Cause at times Idk when people are talking when Iam on another Tab. But I think that the Ping thing should be in another Forum. Will RoseScout /=\"+ THIS. SIGNATURE. IS. FALSE. 03:21, October 22, 2012 (UTC)

Per Trak   The Mistress and The Cat

A ping would be nice, but that might be harder to implement. Since the AFK button seems to have been used elsewhere, that'll probably be quite easy to implement. I'm in favour of both, but someone would need to find out how to do the pinging. -- Supermorff (talk) 07:34, October 22, 2012 (UTC)

I support, per Morff. --  Splash the Otter   C  E  12:25, October 22, 2012 (UTC)

If we could implement it, this would be a very helpful feature. I'm supporting per everyone else.

I support. Per Supermorff. --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount 23:05, October 22, 2012 (UTC)

So, when is this AFK Button going to be implemented? Just asking cause it's been a whlie since someone commented on this forum and I would of thought it would be in the chat by now. :P Will RoseScout /=\"+ THIS. SIGNATURE. IS. FALSE. 04:51, November 7, 2012 (UTC)

I have contacted an admin one the Sonic Fanon Wiki. We will hear from the admin soon. SilverPlays97 (Wall) (Contributions) 03:00, November 12, 2012 (UTC)

Well, it looks like the admin has not responded. I assume he doesn't know. Can someone else contact someone or go to Community Central? SilverPlays97 (Wall) (Contributions) 20:12, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

It's been over two weeks since the last post...has anything happened concerning this AFK button? If not, I may just go to Community Central. Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 2013 16:40, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

It will be added once the admin has time again (The admin who's going to add it was going to a few days ago but she couldn't do it then because her head was hurting or something) We all have our own styles we won't change 18:29, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

Her excuse was "Not today, I have a headache"? -- Supermorff (talk) 20:12, December 7, 2012 (UTC)
Enough of this, someone give me a link to the code. I'll do it. --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount 22:41, December 10, 2012 (UTC)
So I scrolled through Gamedezyner's contributions on SFW, and found that he has been editing MediaWiki:Chat.js. Sure enough, there's code for an AFK button there. Could an admin add the code so we can test it out, please?Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 2013 15:57, December 11, 2012 (UTC)
A second option would be to copy/paste MediaWiki:ChatHacks.js onto SNN; it has all the chat features users here have discussed. Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 2013 16:12, December 11, 2012 (UTC)

Would an admin please attempt to apply this feature? Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 2013 00:20, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

I've replicated the MediaWiki:ChatHacks.js page over here. Let me know if the "hacks" are working on the chat, then I will have this forum closed.   ★EYCEST★R★    ★Contact★ 00:30, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

It's not working. Maybe Chat.js will work. Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 2013 00:47, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

I've added in the coding relating to the AFK and ChatHacks.js. How about now?   ★EYCEST★R★    ★Contact★ 00:57, January 8, 2013 (UTC)
Slight issue with the coding. I could be doing something wrong, but I removed everything I did (and deleted the MediaWiki page that I created).   ★EYCEST★R★    ★Contact★ 01:17, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

It needs to be added. It's been about 4 months since this was agreed upon. SilverPlays97 (Wall) (Contributions) 00:43, February 5, 2013 (UTC)

I attempted to add the button before, but it didn't work. Trying to do it again will likely provide me with similar results. I'm not too sure what else we can do about this, unless we can get another user more experienced with Mediawiki coding to give it a try.   ★EYCEST★R★    ★Contact★ 01:32, February 5, 2013 (UTC)

I don't see why not. It makes it easier to know if a user is away. Sometimes the user IS away, but in chat it looks like it's not. So I agree... MintsyWinterBlue (talk) (contributions) 17:02, February 5, 2013 (UTC)

Get a load of what I found! There's this wiki which has a wonderful AFK button. It actually works! We just need that, and we can finally finalize this project! -- MintsyWinterBlue (talk) (contributions) 20:27, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

Le Solace It really doesn't matter what I'm doing here.
TALK – 20:36, March 9, 2013 (UTC)
Great! Does this wiki have a MediaWiki page for this AFK button? I'm quite sure they do. If you could show us the AFK button's MediaWiki page, we could borrow the program and implement it here.

SU13 found the page! It's right [|here] -- MintsyWinterBlue (talk) (contributions) 21:38, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out, but I don't see a section on that page related to the AFK button. Does it go by a different name on there?   ★EYCEST★R★    ★Contact★ 21:48, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

There actually is a section for the AFK button, but it's on another page, the script of which is imported to Mediawiki/Chat.js...the code for the AFK button should be here, if I remember correctly. Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 201321:51, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not seeing it on that page either.   ★EYCEST★R★    ★Contact★ 21:57, March 9, 2013 (UTC)

As some of the community chat told me, it might had been changed. I'm not sure. But I'll try looking up the AFK in the many pages of the wiki I specified per Unleashed. -- MintsyWinterBlue (talk) (contributions) 14:00, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

Did this website help? . I just clicked a link that said Chathacks in the chat I've been. -- MintsyWinterBlue (talk) (contributions) 15:10, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

I've just inserted a coding that was titled "Away status functions" from that page. I'm not sure if that is the AFK button, but if it's working the way it's supposed to, then this discussion can be closed.   ★EYCEST★R★    ★Contact★ 15:21, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

Lol. Didn't see you come in. Anyway, we're going to need an options box, with an Enable Chathacks checkbox. I don't think this yet over. -- MintsyWinterBlue (talk) (contributions) 15:24, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

I replaced the coding I just added with the AFK coding from SFW. I went on their chat to see how it works exactly, but I don't see a AFK button on there. The closest was to that was to "enable chathacks", which contained the AFK button coding on their Mediawiki chat page, but it had no effect.   ★EYCEST★R★    ★Contact★ 15:36, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

Actually, I asked the creator of the coding himself, but he didn't reply or did any gesture! Which I find truly unfare, the very own creator not helping other wikis. So I'll try searching up his talk page to see if he gave coding to any other user... -- MintsyWinterBlue (talk) (contributions) 15:44, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, but there's no need to. I'll ask Foodbandlt if he can take a look for us.   ★EYCEST★R★    ★Contact★ 15:53, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

Copy-paste the entirety of this page using CTRL-A over the existing code on Mediawiki:Chat.js. I've copied the original code from that page and made the necessary modifications to it. -- Foodbandlt 21:38, March 14, 2013 (UTC)
