Would you say that Chaos Energy and Mana is the same thing in Sonic's world?

While Shadow demonstraits various powers you can do with the Chaos Emeralds, I would compare his abilities to the various techniques in the DragonBall series such as the Kamehameha. Thus Chaos Energy can be compared to Ki. Even Ki is used in Goku's transformations to Super Saiyan just as Chaos Energy is used for Sonic to become Super Sonic. As Ki is based on Qi which in chinese culture is believed to be life energy, this makes sense how Dr. Eggman can use Chaos Emeralds for his machines as he his Badnik's run on bio-energy, with actual animals for hosts.

Mana is the Hawaiian equivilent of Qi, however in modern times it is often reconised in fantasy as a sort of secondary bio-energy magicians have to use spells. I personally believe fantasy wizard magic is different from DragonBall powers as the Z Fighters attack are usually pure energy base while wizards "magic" usually of little based energy and mostly of elemental effect like bursts of burning, freezing or healing.

What made me think Chaos Emeralds are more of a magic nature is the Special Zone. What goes on in there seems more of an unpredictable, everchanging yet magical nature, such as crystal or earth like matter used to construct the Special Stages. The the Chaos Emeralds conduits for this pocket dimensions energy or maybe the Chaos Emeralds are actually just a power source and the Special Stages were created from them? The whole Zone being made from Special Stages.

Sonic the Comic Online has also made the comparions of "Chaos Emerald Radiation" with "Magick". Issue 252-253, Sonic the Hedgehog: Ebony & Ivory story, Ebony had a vial of golden energy which contained Super Sonic. Blaze the Cat can also smell the relation between Sonic and the bottle.

Another bit of evidence to proove the Chaos Emeralds magical nature is the belief they can turn "thought" into "power". That can be said the same for magic itself. Chaos Attacks usually require a certain level of will power while magic requires various concentration and practice and plenty of experiance with the spell before it can become of easy use to the magician.

The more I think about it the more I wonder if Chaos Energy is in a sense "both", A powerful raw energy that can be used biologically while also in essence can be used for sorcery to have magical results. This fits with the powers chaotic nature, one form of use being mroe refined than the other.

I want to know your oppinion on the matter, if you believe the Chaos Emeralds are simply a source of unique power or that the Chaos Emeralds are more of a magical artifact able to bestow magical abilities such as magic itself.--Mystic Monkey is a MonoBook wikian. _ 23:26, February 7, 2013 (UTC)

As you said, Chaos energy seems to have more in common with Dragon Ball's Ki. However, in Dragon Ball, they kind of make it a point to display how Ki is not magic.--Akamia(Talk)(Want to see what I've been doing?) 23:28, February 7, 2013 (UTC)

Yes but does Ki has it's own pocket dimension where the Dragon balls reside? The Special zone seems to consist of such materials like earth and crystal. It has breathable air and "gravity" despite the fact it's a pocket cosmos, but I believe this is because despite it being a "special" zone, it is still located on Sonic's planet Earth. I just find the Special Zone to be a rather magical place than just a location of pure energy.--Mystic Monkey is a MonoBook wikian. _ 00:11, February 8, 2013 (UTC)

Well, in the Dragon Ball universe, there exists both Ki and magic; the Kamehameha, etc, is Ki, but the the Dragon Balls and Majin Buu are magic. As you may know, Ki can be used for a variety of abilities, such as energy blasts, bursts of light, energy blades, afterimages, and even giant goldern dragons, there doesn't seem to be a limit to what Ki can do. I personally believe there is a difference between Chaos Energy and magic, although there have been very little examples of magic in the Sonic games universe (of the top of my head, I can only think of Amy's Tarot reading) so it's hard to know if there's a distintion. How would we reconise magic in Sonic's game if we see it? For example, Blaze the Cat's power over fire. However it doesn't seem to be restricted by a measurement of mana while Chaos Energy is more infinite despite the fact she does not need emeralds to use her power.--Mystic Monkey is a MonoBook wikian. _ 00:30, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
Hard to say though one would assume that as Blaze's abilities are fire based, they are related to the Sol Emeralds, and possibly run on "Sol energy". Some things aren't properly explained in the Sonic universe, and I think some things that could be considered magic are really mentioned to be anything. Myself 123 00:44, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
I have thought of mentioning the Sol Emeralds. I was gonna say that as the Chaos Emeralds can "Turn thought into power" I personally believe that they much rather "burn thought into fire". However, other than Burning Blaze, I think the Sol Emeralds are simply regarded as another set of emeralds with powers simular or same to the Chaos Emeralds and that like the emeralds individually, the two sets of emeralds respond to one another.--Mystic Monkey is a MonoBook wikian. _ 01:25, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
