I don't know if this is the right place to inquire about this or if it is too late to even discuss this, but I am curious about why the fandom forums were deleted. I am well aware that anyone looking for roleplaying or fancharacter discussion can go to Sonic Fanon Wiki, but frankly I don't really favor that wiki due to some of the problems that went on over there in the past. And the fandomness is what brought many of the users to this site. Users that have also made many helpful contributions during their time here (the ones that knew what they were doing, anyway.) I think that the fans should be allowed to come together for their own Sonic creativity on this site just as they were able to before. Besides, has deleting those forums reduced the amount of trolls or troublemakers on this site? I mean, I wouldn't know since I haven't had the time to actually be on this site as much as once upon a time, but I'm sure some of you would. If anyone would like to talk about this, I'll wait for a response. -- Shelly the Hedgehog I'm not a monkey! 13:41, July 22, 2012 (UTC)
- You might wanna check the list of Closed Site Discussions, Shelly. There should be a Site Discussion regarding the forums and why they were deleted (although technically, they were moved). Lloyd the Cat"I don't die. I just go on adventures." 14:16, July 22, 2012 (UTC)
I think they were removed as there's no real reason to be in forums, as sub userpages work just as well. We all have our own styles we won't change 20:25, July 22, 2012 (UTC)
Actually Genesjs, I notified Shelly about this some time prior. I was intending to bring it up once again after hearing from her, because I hoped to state my reasoning and side of the story with some support. However, given some additional issues that just came to my intention, it will take some time for me to organize my argument and type it down.--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 23:37, July 22, 2012 (UTC)
I've moved this to the Questions forums, because it moreso belongs there, as she is asking what happened to them, not proposing a change. --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount 23:49, July 22, 2012 (UTC)
I apologize for initially creating this discussion under the wrong category. I also found the forum, and I will admit that moving the forums was a much better idea than just deleting them altogether. The fact that they were moved instead of altogether erased was also a detail that someone left out when they informed me of the change, and therefore I don't have much else to say. I will suggest that someone leave a proper link in the forum index to the new Wiki so that people looking for the old forums can more easily access them, even if it is a temporary wiki.
I will also say that if you are planning to eventually move everything on that Wiki to the Sonic Fanon Wiki, I will mention that I imagine not everyone will be comfortable with moving their work to another wiki. I'm unaware of any such protests, since I havne't been much involved with the subject, but I am merely voicing my opninion on this. -- Shelly the Hedgehog I'm not a monkey! 19:14, July 23, 2012 (UTC)
I thought the fandom forums weren't really deleted but moved too the temporary wiki Sonic Fanon forums. They was going to be given to Sonic Fanon Wiki since they'll benefit from it more than we do but there was one disagreement which prevented us from moving them, so we moved them to a temporary wiki until the matter can be resolved.--Mystic Monkey is a proud MonoBook Wikian. 20:13, July 23, 2012 (UTC)
- That's pretty much it, yeah. They are there and free for the taking if and when somebody from SFW decides to take them. -- Supermorff (talk) 19:07, July 25, 2012 (UTC)
