Forums: Index > Questions > Gear dissapointment?

I'll be getting Sonic Free Riders in 24 hours from now. From what I found out so far, I find this "customizing" bit quite a dissapointment and load of hype. For example the latest Extreme Gear is the Avatar-M which is pretty much the character board for the XBox Avatars. I found out about it from a Youtube video. The reason why I am dissapointed because I thought what Sega ment by customizing would be to actually make your own Extreme Gear, perhaps from provided or purchased extreme gears from characters or shop and be able to change it's colours, apperance, stats and especially re-name the board making it truely your own board. But it seems that it's really just leveling up and choice of gears for the boards. I don't really consider this as customizing at all. I would find it cool if Sonic Team provided a "Garage" download for the game even if it would cost some Microsoftpoint because it would of be awsome if we could all do it and race and compare them online.

So anyone else already have dissapointment with SFR so far?--Mystic Monkey sez 23:27, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

I wish they could make them far more customizable, like giving you frames for boards, allowing you to pick their type and upgrades, and how they're designed.--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 00:44, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

It would be difficult to do it all by bare hand but so worth it that each one of us who plays SFR have our own board that represents us.--Mystic Monkey sez 00:46, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

Bare hand? I don't get it.--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 00:47, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

SFR doesn't uses the controller at all. I think it should at some parts but even the menu's are handled by Kinects watching you move hands about.--Mystic Monkey sez 00:51, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

Oh yeah. Well, that would make making your own custom board interesting.--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 00:53, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

I know I shouldn't be critisizing a game I haven't played yet. Im not saying that Sonic Free Riders is a bad game, like poor story or gameplay. Just so far ALL the Sonic fans have to get XBox Live Membership (it's free to begin with so thats not so bad but there is still the matter of points which cost money). Then you must have Kinect which would cost quite a bit for a piece of tech you will use on 5 games you will buy for it on later releases until you have it as your PCs webcam. Only to end up with a game which has hollow promises that you been hoping for. I had an article for my own board Aeroga all laid out waiting for a nice picture and a few simple edits but I may have to either make it just a fan article or not bother with it and delete it. A waste of a reserved article >_<. so I really hope that when it comes to "customising", it doesn't simply mean selecting gears for your boards. Thats not "customising", thats simply selecting.--Mystic Monkey sez 02:10, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

Getting it today[]

Im suprise to find out that I don't have to download it! That yoyu can buy the game in the shops! I will be purchasing the actual game than downloading it along with Sonic Colours (Wii & NDS) along with FF:4HL which I just so happened to spot.--Mystic Monkey sez 13:27, November 10, 2010 (UTC)
