I noticed near the end of Sonic Generations that Modern Eggman mentions that he used the Time Eater to undo his previous defeats and the game didn't specifically show Sonic preventing Eggman from changing the past despite restoring certain areas in the past such as Green Hill Zone. Sonic may have restored space and the damaged areas from the past but Eggman may have somehow altered the timeline by erasing his defeats from the past. Such as Blaze recognizing Crisis City even though no one is supposed to remember it since the Flames of Disaster were extinguished thus causing Iblis not to exist in the future in fact Crisis City shouldn't even exist in the future to begin with. Also after the Death Egg Robot boss battle in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 the Death Egg is destroyed but in Sonic Generations the Death Egg remains intact. Classic Eggman may have taken this opportunity by returning to the Death Egg after Classic Sonic left so he could build upon his Eggman Empire with it. If Sonic spinoff games are considered canonical then it should also be noted that a poster in City Escape from Sonic Generations states that Mighty the Armadillo has been missing since 1993 which is when SegaSonic the Hedgehog was released when actually his last apperance in a Sonic game was in Knuckles Chaotix which was released in 1995. It seems like Sonic didn't really return time to normal so if Eggman really did undo his previous defeats then when Sonic and his friends returned to the present then shouldn't Eggman be in at least near-complete control of the world? Sure Sonic and his friends probably remember everything that happensed and that small area where Sonic was having his birthday party isn't in Eggman's control but shouldn't there be massive changes to the world since Eggman had never been defeated? Well aside from being defeated in the final boss fight. I'm not even sure whether or not if Classic Eggman will get his teaching degree
instead of conquering the world but if he did it would also mess up the timeline. It would cause Modern Eggman to cease to exist along with many of Sonic's friends considering that he met them through his many journeys to defeat Eggman.
Anyways I have no idea where the Sonic games are going from here but maybe you guys can explain to me what this all means and what possibilites there are for Sonic games to be released in the future.
Sign your posts next time please. I'll answer a few of your questions there. Knux Chaotix isn't really part of the "main series", and Knuckles Cahotix is a Knuckles game, and for the Sonic timeline, their last appearance was 1993, because that's their last appearance in a SONIC game, not a Knuckles game, which Knux Chaotix is. Knuckles' game is Knuckles' game and I don't think Sonic was in that as far as I can recall. The Time Eater can apparently delete alternate timelines too, but, yeah. Classic Eggman getting a teaching degree was probably a joke on Segas side. When the Sonics run through the areas, they are not only restoring the space that is there, they are restoring the events that happened there. Blaze's background, and the fact that she recognises Crisis City is just more confusion they've given us. More of your questions
"Also after the Death Egg Robot boss battle in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 the Death Egg is destroyed but in Sonic Generations the Death Egg remains intact"
This can also partly answer the other question. Eggman erased his defeat there, and everywhere else, and he is using his old machines to trounce the Sonics for the second time with that machine. It may have gotten destroyed, but Eggman erased that event, and set his Classic self to use it again and defeat Sonic(which he failed at) so that's why it remains that way.
"(...)It would cause Modern Eggman to cease to exist along with many of Sonic's friends considering that he met them through his many journeys to defeat Eggman."
No, it wouldn't "cease their existance" because it's not like they'd not exist without beating Eggman, they just met him and had a life before they met him.
Besides, when Eggman was defeated, the timeline was restored because Time Eater was destroyed which was causing the time-space problems, which possibly means that all the events that were "destroyed" were restored as well. So no need to make this, because all of time got restored once the Eggmen were defeated. Besides, most of the stuff you mentioned are most likely fourth wall breaks from Sega. I MAY be wrong here though on some parts. Pinkolol16A Sonic fan who cares 05:48, March 7, 2012 (UTC)
Perhaps Eggman didn't undo his previous defeats yet. Maybe he wanted to defeat Sonic in order to "pave the way" so to speak. --I'MA FIRE MAH LASER! BWHAAAAH!!! 11:56, March 7, 2012 (UTC)
