Why are we called "Sonic News Network" and nothing as plain as "Sonic Wiki" or something? Sounds like a news channel or something. Im just curious.--Mystic Monkey is a proud MonoBook Wikian. 15:49, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

Funny thing is, that's what I thought this wiki was before I joined. I thought you guys were trying to be like CNN. But I really like the title because it isn't obvious like "Sonic Wiki". -- Splash the Otter C E 15:52, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

I'm assuming this wiki was originally intended for both information and blogging, as Our Founder began writing some news articles in the very first day of the wiki. Serious Sam Heavy 15:59, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

I guess it's more of a question, as I don't find it a big issue. However I would recommend such names as "Sonic Wiki" or "Sonic the Hedgehog Wiki" so that visitors who are looking for top quality information know they are at the right place. "Sonic News Network" sounds more like one of many Sonic's fan sites so a name as simple as "Sonic Wiki" will have visitors know they are at the right place. However Im not saying this is a major issue as still we have visitors and they can simply put "Sonic Wiki" in Google to find us, while I would recommend a more simpler name, I am curious why we sound like a news channel.--Mystic Monkey is a proud MonoBook Wikian. 16:54, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

I personally would like to go with anything other than "Sonic Wiki" and "Sonic the Hedgehog Wiki", because if memory serves a copy-cat Wiki that basically copied our articles used that name and I would rather not see us adopt that name shortly after said Wiki closes, or in general really because I think we're capable of coming up with a unique name for this Wiki in case we ever decide to get rid "Sonic News Network". As far as I can figure out, we're called Sonic News Network because the site's founder, Guess Who, started it as an extension of a previous non-wiki site by that name that no longer exists. I admit that I often refer to us as "the Sonic Wiki" when talking to people who aren't users, as it's a really simple shorthand. (I've moved the forum to General. Oh yeah... Not sure how I missed that.
