So I guess we can keep the title but make the mascot Omochao. I remember the SNN-Tan thing but a Sonic Character would be more appropriate--[[User:Milotheechidna|Milotheechidna]] 13:45, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

Trivia rules for wiki

Due to the concern about ridiculous trivia in articles, I've compiled some trivia rules to propose for the wiki for my trivia improvement project called "Project EasterEggman". Examples marked in green are "good" and ones marked in red are "bad". Please leave comments in the different subjects and other discussion in the Discussion section--Milotheechidna 19:07, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

The following subjects are:

Grammar

Bad Grammar will not be tolerated. Anything with a ridiculous amount of bad grammar will be deleted, not corrected

Amy is mo rehot tan Rogue

Comments

 • Requiring it to be deleted will help assist people truly think about the trivia: Is it really necessary?

Stating the Obvious

Pointing out little Easter Eggs that are familiar to any person who plays or reads the media are encouraged.
Anything previously mentioned in the article that is repeated in the trivia will be deleted
Anything obvious will be deleted
 • In the Spagonia night hub a man can be heard whistling the tune of the orchestrated theme of Sonic Unleashed
 • Sonic is blue

Comments

 • This should maybe be split into several different rules which can be explained further, but they're good rules. -- Supermorff 19:20, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Fandom/Opinions

Fan - Related trivia will be heavily scrutinized for clarity and truth:
 • No trivia comments should say "fans thought this" and related
Opinionated trivia must not only be sourced but must come from a professional critic
 • SEGA allowed fans to enter in their artwork for Sonic and the Black Knight
 • Fans were dissapointed when Knuckles wasn't included in Sonic Unleashed

Comments

 • No trivia comments should say "fans thought this". Ever. What would be acceptable would be saying "A particular (named) critic thought this" with a reference. Or "the review in this magazine said". In the above examples, who allowed the fans to enter their artwork and how? -- Supermorff 19:20, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
 • I'll implement that--Milotheechidna 21:24, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Observations

Observational trivia will be taken lightly but comparisons to other story arcs and characters must be kept within the Sonic Franchise.
Observations, even within the Sonic franchise, must be notable. They should not be minor coincidences, such as characters having the same number of letters in their names, nor should they be caused by both characters being based on the same stock character.
 • Sonic is similar to Shadow in a number of ways
 • Sonic is similar to Kappa Mikey in many ways

Comments

 • Observations, even within the Sonic (not Sega) franchise, must be notable. They should not be minor coincidences, such as characters having the same number of letters in their names, nor should they be caused by both characters being based on the same stock character. -- Supermorff 19:20, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Discussion

Exactly. We need to try to perfect this incomplete brainchild of mine so any users can help me expand on this by leaving suggestions below the appropriate sections or suggest a new sort of rule in the discussion section.--Milotheechidna 21:24, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

When I saw the title for this, I thought you were expressing you love for trivia, but this is a very important topic. Myself 123 22:41, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
 • I noticed that when I made the forum. However, I think the trivia is a key part of an article, it tells readers information that doesn't fit in the rest of the article. It tells me interesting stuff that I didn't notice when I read that piece of media and helps me appreciate that said subject a whole lot more.--Milotheechidna 01:30, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

"Easter Eggman" ? ? ? --Mystic Monkey 03:46, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

"Easter Egg". Get it? -- Shelly the Hedgehog Amy to ShellyI'm not a monkey! 04:26, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

Its a portmanteau that I made up. Might as well add a sonic character in it--Milotheechidna 21:32, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

I get it, but why call it Easter Egg? This isn't exactly secret information we must find on the article. Or if it's about eggs litually, why? I thought this was about trivia info.--Mystic Monkey 21:48, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

I just called it that because, technically speaking, the Easter Eggs of any media are normally pointed out in the trivia section. I can call it something else if you have a better pun.--Milotheechidna 13:25, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

Names not important. Just wondered why the name. But how 'bout "Hint Orb" or whatever those rainbow gold question-markers are called. (Do we even have an article for those question-markers?)--Mystic Monkey 22:10, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

I guess they were so trivial they were ignored (the only reason why omochao was remembered was because it was so darn annoying). Anyways, we could use an Omochao as a mascot... or something a bit more familiar?--Milotheechidna 00:03, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

I remember discussing something like that half a year ago when a mascot of sorts was originally suggested. I suggested it because his colours would go well with the SNN's colours. That and being an information chao would make sense even if he's not that popular.--Mystic Monkey 01:26, December 14, 2009 (UTC)
