Forums: Index > Questions > What is a Edit War and Block Times

Okay so I've been blocked a few times recently under the pretense of Edit Waring which is all fine and dandy but the people blocking me seem to be blocking me way sooner then I think a Edit War has started. So I want to propose that an Edit War starts at 10 edits from both sides each 20 total and 3 to 7 days for a block time that way it's fair for all.Amyrunhammer Sonamyfan666 Follow me inside, outside, through the stratosphere... Oh no, no, NOT ANOTHER FORUM!! Oh, er *clears throat*, right. I'm afraid I'll have to disagree here. An edit war is an edit war, no matter how many reverts there are between each user, and is punishable all the same. As for block times, they should really only be decided by the person performing the block, with durations traditionally getting longer with more blocks. Ideally, you should only revert once. Aside from the obvious vandalism or spam, please try to refrain from reverting an edit more than once. If you revert it again, bring the conflict to talk pages. Block times are all administrator discretion. When handing out blocks, I do my best to be fair and sympathetic. In your case (repeated cases of edit-warring), I believe I was. I could have blocked you for one month with justified reasons, but I see you as a constructive contributor, so I gave you a shorter block. Edit-warring does not "start" after a certain number of edits, and there will be no set ban length, as every punishment and warning are different. It's situational. --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount 11:01, July 13, 2013 (UTC)

EDIT: Silver has moved this into the Questions category. Was this the right thing to do? (Please say yes.) THE REFLEX dancing on the valentine 11:05, July 13, 2013 (UTC)
It doesn't really matter. :P At least from my understanding, it does not look like he was proposing any changes. --Bullet Francisco (talk) Contributions Editcount 13:23, July 13, 2013 (UTC)
That's good. Would rather keep it in Questions. :P THE REFLEX dancing on the valentine 21:34, July 13, 2013 (UTC)

Well I do try to make my opinions as concise as possible, unlike everyone else who insist on going into needless levels of detail. Guess that's the wrong thing to do. Still, you're welcome :) THE REFLEX dancing on the valentine 21:43, July 13, 2013 (UTC)
