Fox Kids (formely known as Fox Kids Network) was an American television channel for kids, it was owned by Saban Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company and News Corporation. Fox Kids aired Sonic the Hedgehog exclusively in Italy. It also aired Sonic X (but only in the Jetix block). Fox Kids also made an advertising of Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut.
Fox Kids was launched in September 8, 1990 as Fox Children's Network as a block on Fox, but then it became a television channel in 1996. In 1991, the block was renamed Fox Kids Network. And then in 1998, the block/channel was rename simply as Fox Kids, dropping the word Network. Fox Kids had managed to achieve high ratings for most of its twelve year run.
However in 2001, Saban sold the Fox Family (which included Fox Kids) to the Walt Disney Company due to low ratings. Fox Kids began to dissolve starting with September 7, 2002 in the United States (the Fox Kids block in Fox was renamed Fox Box, which was renamed 4Kids TV), however Disney kept Fox Kids emissions without any change until 2004, where the channel was finally replaced by Jetix (which was replaced by Disney XD in 2009). The last ramining Fox Kids in the world to close was in Germany in January 10, 2005.
However, Fox Kids was revived as block on Fox, but only in Finland since 2012.
