The Freedom Movement carried out by humans.

The Freedom Movement[1] is an event that appears in the anime series Sonic X. It refers to the widespread appeal and adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog's carefree, freedom-loving lifestyle on Earth.

History[]

Anime[]

Emerl Saga[]

The Freedom Movement came as a result of Sonic's gradual exposure to the public, alongside his actions and personality.[2] The people of Station Square grew to idolize Sonic and attempted to mimic him in various ways, such as copying his hairstyle and sleeping on rooftops like him. However, their attempt at mimicry would backfire. For example, many of the employees of Thorndyke Industries had also become admirers of Sonic and joined the Freedom Movement, and several of them quit their jobs to start Sonic fan clubs, while the remaining employees spent so much time talking about Sonic that their work had become shoddy, which caused a huge amount of paper work to pile up listing customer complaints.[2]

Homebound Saga[]

Some time later, the Freedom Movement was still going strong, with many people participating and several pieces of merchandise, such as books and shirts, being created for it. Many too began associating the several new world records in various sporting events to Sonic's popularity, though this was not the case.[1]
