Not to be confused with Gauge Up.

GP Gauge UP is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is an Extreme Gear Gear Part that increases the capacity of the user's GP Gauge.

Description[]

GP Gauge UP is an installable performance-enhancing component for Extreme Gears. Its actual appearance is unknown, though it is presented as an icon on the head-up display in the top-left corner of the game screen. Its icon is a light blue-colored circle with a black oblique swirl inscribed in it.

Overview[]

In the game, GP Gauge UP is permanently installed into only certain Extreme Gears. When in use, GP Gauge UP increases the capacity of Gravity Points that the player can store in their GP Gauge, allowing more frequent usage of Gravity Control and Gravity Dive. The amount that GP Gauge UP increases the GP Gauge by is usually 25 GP, though it can for some Extreme Gears increase it by 50 GP.

In gameplay, GP Gauge UP and its ability will be disabled when starting a new race. To activate GP Gauge UP, the player must press one of the following buttons after collecting a certain number of Rings:

PS2 Wii (remote) - sideways Wii (remote) - forward Wii (Nintendo GameCube Controller)
PSTriangleButton WiiDSA Up on Controlpadds Gamecube Y Button

When activating GP Gauge UP, the player's Rings will be reduced accordingly by the number needed to enable it and the Extreme Gear is surrounded by an orange void, indicating the Gear Part's ability is in effect; which is signified by the GP Gauge (at the bottom-right corner of the game screen) extending its length and displays a number indicating the increase. If the GP Gauge is empty when the player activates GP Gauge UP, this change is not displayed until the player accumulates Gravity Points. The following Extreme Gears come equipped with the GP Gauge UP:
