The Gaia Colossus (神殿巨人 Shinden Kyojin?, lit. Temple Giant) is the transformation of Chip caused by combining and merging with the seven Temples of Gaia, with the aid of the seven Chaos Emeralds. It is used against Dark Gaia and in the final battle against Perfect Dark Gaia in Sonic Unleashed. This form is basically an amalgamation of the Temples of Gaia, appearing as a giant golem, and is used by Chip primarily to distract Dark Gaia while Sonic attacks its eyes. The Gaia Colossus is capable of flight. There is, however, confusion in the size of the colossus, as indicated when Sonic lies on the Gaia Colossus' hand.
The Gaia Colossus has the ability of flight, and can dash forward at high speeds (in the Xbox 360/PS3 version). Due to being powered by Light Gaia, it has impressive physical strength that makes it able to harm and fend off Dark Gaia by destroying the boulders hurled at it, use a light-fulled energy punch with both hands, and even tear through Perfect Dark Gaia's defense shield. It can also take a great deal of damage, as it goes toe-to-toe with Dark Gaia and manages to hold off a point-blank energy blast from him.
In the Wii/PS2 version, the Gaia Colossus does not use the ability to dash forward when facing Dark Gaia. Instead, it uses its physical strengh. Since the fight consists in only beating Dark Gaia.
