Throws swords as boomerangs to attack opponents

Gail Meteor (ワイルドメテオ Wairudometeo?, lit. "Wild Meteor") is a Soul Surge technique used by Sir Gawain, Sir Lamorak and Knuckles the Echidna (Multiplayer only) in Sonic and the Black Knight. When using this technique, the user can either throws their dual swords as boomerang to attack enemies, accelerate to top speed, or launch a powerful kick.

DescriptionEdit

In order to perform Gail Meteor in gameplay, the user's Soul Gauge must contain enough Soul Energy to initiate the user's Soul Surge. To activate the move in gameplay, the player must press B, and to cancel the move while being used, the player must press B. If the user runs out of Soul Energy, however, the move will end.

Gail Meteor can be executed in three ways; either to attack enemies, launching a kick to bump enemies or advance quicker through the stages (Sir Gawain only).

AttackEdit

If Gail Meteor is performed as a means of offense, the user will briefly charge up the attack, with small rings of energy emitting from his feet. The user will then shout "Grawrrr....Gail Meteor", and then throws his dual-blades at the foe. Any lesser enemies are instantly killed and tougher enemies are dealt massive damage. After being thrown, the swords will then return to the user in a boomerang effect. All enemies that are caught in the path of the thrown weapon will be hit as well. Once the enemy has been struck, the user selects the next target and the cycle continues. While this move can only be used when standing on the ground, the user can strike both flying and ground foes, though it does not allow the user to gain distance while attacking like other Soul Surge moves.

When performing this variation of Gail Meteor in gameplay, the user will automatically target any enemy in front of him with a red reticle. To strike the enemy, the players have to swing the Wii Remote. If the user strikes when the reticle is glowing bright white and the user's blade is glowing, the user can perform a Perfect Hit for more damage and extra points.

When Gawain has the Flamberge equipped, his Gail Meteor always targets the furthest enemy, allowing multiple enemies to be hit on the way back and creates an explosion when his blades come in contact with enemies.

KickEdit

If Gail Meteor is performed as a means of launching a kick at opponents, Gawain will briefly charge up the attack, with small rings of energy emitting from his feet. Gawain will then jump towards his chosen opponent and knock the opponent into the air with a double barrel upward kick, which can leave the opponent momentarily stunned.

When performing this variation of Gail Meteor in gameplay, Gawain will automatically target any enemy in front of him with a red reticle. To strike the enemy, the players have to swing the Nunchuck remote. This attack is the only way to remove Will 'o Wisps. However, it deals very little damage to enemies.

Speed BoostEdit

If Gail Meteor is used to give Gawain an increase in speed, Gawain will briefly charge up the move, with small rings of energy emitting from his feet. He will then accelerate to beyond his top speed in a split-second with a high-speed dash, akin to Speed Break from the Sonic and the Secret Rings. This allows Lanceleot to get through the stages quicker and pass through most obtacles before they can react to his presense.

When performing this variation of Gail Meteor in gameplay, there has to be no enemies in front of Gawain. To initiate the speed boost, the players have to swing the Wii Remote, and Gawain will take off at extreme speeds. While moving at these speeds, however, the players' controls becomes slightly more difficult. Also, if Gawain encounters an enemy while using Gail Meteor as a speed boost, he will automatically, switch to the attack variant of it.

TriviaEdit

  • This is the only move that can attack foes from a distance, and thus is the only Soul Surge that can destroy Will-o'-Wisps, and one of only two moves overall, the other being an unnamed physical attack using the sword's hilt.
  • Since Gail Meteor can be used on the ground and the user does not move when striking foes like the other knights, it leaves the user as an easy target for enemy attacks and the Soul Surges of other knights in multiplayer mode.
