Gardon (ガードン Gādon?) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is an anthropomorphic koala from Blaze's world and Blaze the Cat's personal guard. He is also a member of the Coconut Crew.[1]

Appearance[]

Gardon is a gray-furred anthropomorphic koala with droopy ears. He has a white-furred muzzle and hands, and possesses a large black nose. He also has small, black, bead-like eyes. For attire, he wears a matching sky blue two piece uniform, consisting of a hat with a rim and a vest with a yellow collar and latches. He also wears brown shoes with gray soles.

History[]

Games[]

Sonic Rush Adventure[]

In Sonic Rush Adventure, Gardon accompanied Blaze on her mission to retrieve the Jeweled Scepter from Captain Whisker and his pirates.

After Blaze returned from Coral Cave, Gardon arrived on Southern Island where he took up residence in the Ocean Tornado's docks. Along with the other guards, Gardon was ordered to seek out the Sol Emeralds. There, Gardon immediately recognized Sonic the Hedgehog when the hedgehog introduced himself to him, as Blaze had informed him of her adventure and encounter with Sonic in his dimension. From there on, whenever, Gardon and the guards located a Sol Emerald, they would report it to Sonic, who in turn would pass that knowledge onto Blaze.

When the Jeweled Scepter when missing shortly after Blaze and her friends had reclaimed it, Gardon quickly reported the theft to Blaze.

Personality[]

Gardon is very devoted to his duty and Blaze, and expresses a great deal of concern for the princess's well-being as he asks Sonic to take good care of her. He also holds great respect for Blaze, addressing her as "Your Highness" (which often annoys her) and "Princess Blaze" when in her presence.

Powers and abilities[]

Wielding a sword, it stands to reason that Gardon has some skills in swordsmanship.

Weapons[]

Gardon wields a short sword with a rectangular yellow guard and sword pommel, and a black grip.

Gardon, from Sonic Universe #1.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, when Metal Sonic was teleported to the Sol Zone, he came to the Southern Island and started attacking natives. Gardon joined the fight, but his sword was broken in the process. Fortunately for Gardon, Blaze came and dealt with Metal Sonic with the help of Shadow the Hedgehog and Marine the Raccoon.[2]

IDW Publishing[]

Gardon, from Sonic the Hedgehog #30.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing, Gardon appears as a resident of Blaze's world and is the bodyguard of the princess. In the Imperial Palace, Gardon met up with Blaze to give her the evening report. There, he gladly replied that he had nothing to report and that all was well. Soon after, however, something impacted the palace grounds. Blaze subsequently ran to check it out, but Gardon tried pleading her to be careful. When they both got to the site of the impact however, the pair discovered that the impact was caused by an unconscious Sonic.[3] Later on, Gardon stood by Blaze's side while she talked with Sonic, who suffered from amnesia.[4] Some time later, Gardon brought Blaze the Sol Emeralds, which she used to restore Sonic's memory.[5]

Trivia[]

  • Gardon's name is most likely a reference to the fact that he is Blaze's personal guard, therefore having his "guard on".
