The inside of this metallic mountain is filled with moving conveyor belts and platforms, and whirling flywheels. Catch a ride on a wheel, and sling yourself along. Timing is very important! Walking Bombs and Burrowbots roam through this Zone, making your travels treacherous.

Gimmick Mountain Zone is the fifth Zone in the Master System and Game Gear game Sonic the Hedgehog 2. As with the other stages in this game, Gimmick Mountain Zone consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter, third Act which contains the Zone's boss.
The zone bears hallmarks of Scrap Brain Zone and Metallic Madness from the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog CD. Traps are often seen, conveyor belts and Flywheels. It is, however, clearly carved out of the inside of a mountain, as evidenced by the rocky backgrounds which Dr. Robotnik has grafted his inscrutable technology upon.
Pig-Boar Mecha charges from one end of the screen to another, dislodging heavy rocks from the ceiling when it impacts. On the plus side, it charges so hard and so fast that the mecha stuns itself when it collides with the side of the arena, retracting its spikes and giving Sonic a short window to do some damage.
