The Goal Balloon[1] (風船[2] Fūsen?, lit. "Balloon") is a gimmick that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a variant of the balloons that serves as the goal for Amy Rose in her Action Stages.

Description[]

Goal Balloons are large and yellow with blue circles marked with red five-pointed stars. Also, hanging from a rope below the balloon is a red ring. Goal Balloons are always found floating in mid-air until grabbed.

The Balloon Mission 11, from Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut.

In the gameplay of Sonic Adventure and its enhanced port Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, Amy's goal in the Action Stages is to grab the Goal Balloon at the end of those levels by grabbing onto its ring. Upon grabbing it, the player has completed the Action Stage and the balloon starts floating away with Amy hanging onto it. The player will then return to the Adventure Field.

Goal Balloons appeared frequently in Mission Mode in Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. Like Balloons, they can be attacked (though they do not give any bonuses). Various missions require the player to attack or touch them, either one or more to pop.
