Roubal

The current king of the Goblin Empire, Roubal, from Sonic the Comic #144. Art by Nigel Dobbyn.

The Goblin Empire,[1] also referred to as the Goblin Kingdom[1] and Goblin Nation,[2] is a group that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It is the political body of goblins and a powerful kingdom in the same dimension as the Nameless Zone. It is currently ruled by Roubal.

History

For the longest time, the Goblin Empire would be at war with the foxes of the Nameless Zone, due to the goblins' predatory nature towards the foxes. As such, they would often raid the Nameless Zone in order to kidnap foxes and take them home to eat them.[3][4]

However, after Roubal took over as ruler of what he called the "new Goblin Kingdom", he considered himself a moderniser and formed a treaty with the Enchanter Kings. By using the threat of war, he coerced the Enchanter Kings into becoming his vassals. They would continue to rule the Nameless Zone, but once a year they would have to swear fealty to the Goblin Empire. The Enchanter Kings accepted the terms in order to avoid bloodshed, but other foxes of the Nameless Zone, including Morain and Errol Blackthorn, refused to go along with it.[1]
