Gold Beetle (ゴールドビートル, Gōrudobītoru^?) is a robot deployed by the military organization Guardian Units of Nations and is a part of Beetle series. They appear in Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations.

AppearanceEdit

The Gold Beetles look essencially like the Mono Beetles present in the games, except they are coloured gold.

Attack PatternsEdit

Unlike most other robots deployed by G.U.N., the Gold Beetle does not have any method of attack, nor does it attempt to attack its foes. The only thing the Gold Beetle actaully does is appearing for few seconds when a character comes close and then disappears, until either the character loses a life or the player restarts the level.

Game AppearancesEdit

Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: BattleEdit

In Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, the Gold Beetle appear once in every stage, and destroying one is worth 1000 points. If one does not defeat it quickly it will disappear, though it will respawn when the player loses a life.

Sonic Generations (3DS)Edit

In the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations, they appear in Radical Highway. If the player uses the Homing Attack on them before they disappear, they can be used to reach a higher path. There are apparently more than one of these in the stage, as one of the missions in mission mode is to destroy three of them within the time limit.

Sonic XEdit

The Gold Beetle made an appearance in the anime Sonic X. Following Perfect Chaos' attack on Station Square, the Gold Beetles were build by G.U.N. to combat the growing threat of Doctor Eggman, after having being giving clearance to being constructed from the President. In this media they are being shown having the ability to turn invisible.

Following the several trespasses of Prison Island by both Dr. Eggman and Sonic the Hedgehog's friends, the Gold Beetles were deployed by the warden, Howard Watcher, to find them. One managed to located Amy Rose when she was trying to free Sonic from his prison, but was comically smashed up by Amy, once she discovered it.
