Western Publishing is an American publishing company founded in 1907. It is currently an imprint of the multinational publishing conglomerate Penguin Random House.[1] In the early 1990s, Western Publishing published several Sonic books under their "Golden Books" branding.

  • Both Ladybird and Penguin Books, which published several Sonic books during the 1990s were also merged into Penguin Random House in both 1998 and 2013 respectively.[2][3]
  • The other large component of parent company Penguin Random House is Random House, with one of its divisions is Ebury Publishing. Virgin Books, which published Sonic children's novels in the 1990s, is now an imprint of that division.
