Grand Metropolis is the third level in Sonic Heroes, following the battle with the Egg Hawk.

This futuristic city appears to be controlled by the monopolistic HEXAeco energy company, as a majority of the buildings and roadways are powered by them.
Story Edit
After his defeat at Ocean Palace, Doctor Eggman has fled into the city, has taken over the industry and is stealing their energy, so Team Sonic sets out to release it from his control. Team Dark realizes that the city must be crushed and be rid of the Doctor's robot army swarming the city (which would also free it). Team Rose continues to follow Amy on her quest to find Sonic, whom she correctly believes to be in the city. Team Chaotix must destroy all of the robots in the city on the orders of Eggman, meaning that Neo Metal Sonic took over the city instead, showing that it must have been a valuable asset to him.

- This level precedes the Power Plant, which is one of HEXAeco's facilities.
- The HEXAeco slogan is "Clean Power, Clean Energy".
- In this level, Team Chaotix' mission is to defeat all of Eggman's robots. Since Eggman himself assigned them to do this, the city must have been a valuable asset for Metal Sonic.
- This level appears in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games as the location of the Dream Uneven Bars event. During the event, a remix of the background theme plays.
- In Team Chaotix' mission, after Vector says "Boy, it doesn't look good", Espio says "I'll handle it". However, the subtitles read "Leave this to me".
- This is the first stage which Team Dark is able to explore the most, since Team Sonic can only traverse the shuttle loop course in Super Hard Mode.
- At the beginning of Team Dark's mission, Rouge says "Energy thief", but the subtitles read "The red flow is traded at high prices".
