Groove Pipe Snowboard Title Card

Title Card for Groove Pipe Snowboard.

Four players race down a twisty course with curves and ramps. The first to finish wins.

— Description, Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games

Groove Pipe Snowboard is one of the Dream Events that is available to play in Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. In this event, all of the players must compete through a track using Super Mario Bros. gimmicks. This event takes place at the Mushroom Bridge track from Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, albeit the track is now covered in snow.

Description

The event starts out with each of the four players beginning to start the event. After the announcer yells "Ready?", the player can begin holding WiiU-Button-ZL/WiiU-Button-ZR on the Wii U GamePad simultaneously to begin charging a boost for the player to receive when the announcer yells "Go!". When the event commences, the player(s) will snowboard downhill, with some rugged turns to shake things up. Moving the Wii U GamePad up and down to move, the player can collect coins, albeit they do nothing special. The player(s) will begin to reach a cannon from the DK Mountain race track from Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, which will shoot the player(s) straight to a giant hill. Once the player(s) reach the top of the hill, they will meet rigged slopes that they can perform tricks on to gain more speed. Snowmen will also be in the player(s) way to slow them down. After a good-ways-down, the player(s) will find a massive bridge filled with speed boosts that can boost the player's speed. Afterwords, the player(s) will be forced to enter Warp Pipes to be transported back up another hill to snowboard downhill to the track line. Once the player(s) makes it to the track line, the second (and final) lap, multiple green speed boosts are given to boost the player's speed, making it the only alteration of the final track. Once the player(s) make it to the track line a second time, the event is over. Finish first and the player will receive a gold medal; second place receives a silver medal, while a bronze medal is given to those who were in third place.
