Has Bean is the main character of both the 16-bit and 8-bit version of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. He is a Bean and was a former inhabitant of Beanville before being transformed into a robotic being by Dr. Robotnik's roboticizer.

Appearance

Has Bean has dark orange color skin with long bunny-like ears, dot-like eyes and a mouth. His forehead also has small red mark.

Overview

Has Bean was originally one of the jollier Beans in Beanville. At one point, Dr. Robotnik managed to capture him and turn him into a robotic being. Even though he prefers to clown around, however, Has Bean has not forgotten his past.[1]

Has Bean hops across the player's board, turning all the Beans yellow.

In the Scenario Mode on the Sega Genesis version of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Has Bean will stand next to the score counter, watching the action on both boards and doing random things. He's also seen in 1P VS. 2P Mode on both 16-bit and 8-bit version of the game. However, in Exercise Mode, Has Bean will step into the action when the player has performed well and is about to lose the game. At that point, he will start hopping across the player's board in random patterns, changing all the Beans in his way to one certain color. This can create long strings of similar-colored Beans that will disappear and possibly create chain reactions on the board.

Trivia

  • Has Bean is in fact, an export of the character Carbuncle, the mascot from the Puyo Puyo games. The exact reason why the character was left untouched in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is unknown, as Carbuncle in the Puyo Puyo games serves a bigger role as the former pet of Satan and the natural companion of Arle Nadja.
  • Has Bean made a cameo appearance in the fan/pirate game Sonyc, where he can be found on a totem pole in the first level.
