The Honeycomb Cage is an object that appears in the Sonic Boom series. It is a high-tech weapon cage used by Dr. Eggman's Bee Bots for trapping creatures.

Description[]

SB S1E21 Honeycomb units

The beads of the honeycomb cage, from "Sleeping Giant".

The Honeycomb Cage consists of several black beads with red lights in the shape of circles and lines. These beads can be deployed from the stingers of Bee Bots. When deployed, the beads will surround their target on their own through flight. Once in position, they generate red energy threads between them, forming a spherical cage around their target whose energy bars resemble a honeycomb. While strong, the cage is not powerful enough to hold a Granifer Giganticus.[1]

A Bee Bot deploying a Honeycomb Cage unit, from "Sleeping Giant".

When trying to capture the rock monster for his own agenda, Dr. Eggman had a swarm of Bee Bots try trapping the rock monster with the Honeycomb Cage. While the Honeycomb Cage was successfully deployed, it proved too weak to contain the rock monster, who easily tore it apart.[1]

Trivia[]

  • According to Dr. Eggman, the Honeycomb Cage is very expensive.[1]
