Hyper-go-on (カラーパワー Karāpawā?, lit. "Color Power") is the energy used by Wisps and their life source. The most known user of this power is Sonic the Hedgehog.

Description

Hyper-go-on is a very strong energy that has many powers, even possessing the ability to power machinery. It transforms Sonic, converts Nega Wisps back to their normal selves, teleport whole planets and may have other unknown uses. In Sonic Colors, Eggman's scheme to conquer the world was to use Hyper-go-on energy, convert it to negative energy and use it to power a massive Mind Control Ray. Sonic is the only character who can naturally utilize that power, simply when a Wisp goes inside his body, but it is only a minimal amount of the Wisp's power.

By harnessing the Hyper-go-on energy from a Wisp, Sonic is able to use its Color Power, transforming into a different form that grants a special ability, such as new attacks or environmental advantages. The type of transformation and ability he obtains depends on the type of Wisp and its Hyper-go-on energy.

Trivia

  • An unused Eggman voice clip reveals that Hyper-go-ons are more powerful than the Chaos Emeralds.
  • In Sonic Colors, whenever Eggman robs a Wisp of its Hyper-go-on energy, they turn into Nega Wisps. Despite this, when Sonic uses the Hyper-go-on energy, the Wisps appear to be fine. This could be because Eggman completely drains the Wisps, whereas Sonic only uses some of their power.
  • In the Japanese version, Hyper-go-on is simply referred to as the "Wisps' Energy".
