Template:Character Iblis Worms (イブリースクローラー Iburīsukurōrā?, lit. "Iblis Crawler") are supernatural molten lava-beasts conjured and controlled by Iblis, the Flames of Disaster, which serve as opponents in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). These fire monsters look similar to Iblis' Phase 2 form, but with a simpler head, and are far smaller.

Game Appearances

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

The Iblis Worms first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). In this game, their method of attack consists of bursting out of the ground, walls, or ceilings, and shooting spiked fireballs out of its mouth. Rumbling dust will indicate where they will appear. Sometimes they will burrow themselves again and appear somewhere else, or sweep their body around as an attempt to hit their enemies. Like every Iblis monster, they are red-brown colored and weaker than the Mephiles Worms, which are purple-black colored and stronger.

Sonic Generations

The Iblis Worms return in Crisis City in Sonic Generations, where they behave roughly in the same feral manner. Now, a noticeable yellow marker will show where they'll emerge when approached by the player. They still spew fireballs and have a nasty tendency to do so from the safety of the background. Unlike in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), however, the Iblis Worms only take one hit to destroy, whether from Classic or Modern Sonic, as the health meter is no longer present. They also appear smaller than the Iblis Worms in Sonic 2006.

Trivia

  • In Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, when the player first encounters an Iblis Worm, the character will say something like "When it opens its mouth, that's my chance to attack!" However, Iblis Worms can be defeated regardless of whether or not their mouths are open.
  • The Iblis Worm bears a resemblance to the Worm-like Black Arms.
  • They are similar to the Like-Like enemies from the Legend of Zelda franchise.
