Use snowbanks to bank turn

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia

Ice Cap is a course that appears in Sonic Drift 2. It is a racing track located in the IceCap Zone. It is the third course in the White Chaos GP.

Description[]

Ice Cap's main setting is based off the surface area of the Zone of the same name in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The entire region is covered in titles of pale blue ice with large rows of ice blocks and snow dunes spanning the surface, while the sky above is clear and blue. In the far background of Ice Cap there is a clear view of the icy-cold sea and a little more up in front on the background there are large glaciers with snow dunes on top of them that encloses the region.

The racing tracks through Ice Cap are mainly colored in alternating white and non-photo blue horizontal stripes with similarly colored blue and white edges. On the sides of the tracks there are also occasionally pillars of neatly stacked rectangular ice crystals.

Gameplay[]

In Ice Cap, the player's objective is to get the top position in the race. Racing outside the border of the asphalt track will cause the player to lose speed immediately. Additionally, the ice crystal pillars on the outside of the racetracks will cause the playable characters to come to a sudden stop and lose a Ring if they collide with them.

On the road of the racetrack there are at some points Snowdrifts which can slow the player down slightly if he/she touches them, though they will slow down the player significantly if driving through several of them in a row. There are also at some of the turns of the road large snow banks at the outer edge. At these banks the racers can drive straight up their sides if moving fast enough, effectively allowing the player to get through these turns with much effort.

Overview[]

In Ice Cap, the player races on a circular racing track encompassing the entire map. Additionally, the racing track is littered with different power-ups and objects that the player can utilize. Here, the player's objective is to complete three laps of the racetrack. The fastest racer to complete three laps is rewarded with a Chaos Emerald.
