The Jump Attack (ジャンプアタック Janpuatakku?), also known as the Super Hammer Attack (ジャンプハンマー Janpuhanmā?, lit. "Jump Hammer") or the Mid-Air Hammer Attack is one of the signature moves of Amy Rose. It first appeared in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, and later in all three Sonic Advance titles. It is a variant of the Hammer Attack where Amy attacks with her trademark Piko Piko Hammer while jumping.

Description

When using the Jump Attack, Amy first jumps into air. She then pulls out her Piko Piko Hammer and swings it around once with a vertical body flip while in midair, thus damaging all enemies her hammer comes in contact with, before landing on the ground again. This move is similar to Spin Jump (and was probably inspired by it), but by using the Piko Piko Hammer, Amy gains much greater attack range that a normal Spin Jump.

When performing the Jump Attack, the Piko Piko Hammer leaves a trail of pink hearts. In Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX it is performed by pressing the B/X button in mid-jump, and in the Sonic Advance titles it is performed by pressing the A/B button in mid-jump.

In Sonic Advance 3 however, Amy can only perform the Jump Attack if she is teamed up with Sonic, Knuckles, or Cream. Here, Amy must be the character the player controls, and Sonic/Knuckles serves as the character that follows the controlled character.
