The Jump Attack (ジャンプアタック, Janpuatakku^?), also known as the Super Hammer Attack (ジャンプハンマー, Janpuhanmā^?, lit. "Jump Hammer") or the Mid-Air Hammer Attack is one of the signature moves of Amy Rose which first appeared in Sonic Adventure. It is a variant of the Hammer Attack where Amy attacks with her Piko Piko Hammer while jumping.

Description

When using the Jump Attack, Amy jumps into air and pulls out her Piko Piko Hammer where she swings it around while doing a body flip, thus damaging all enemies her hammer comes in contact with. This move is similar to Spin Jump (and was probably inspired by it), except, thank to the Piko Piko Hammer, Amy gains a much greater attack range. When performing the Jump Attack, the Piko Piko Hammer leaves a trail of pink hearts.

Sonic Adventure

In Sonic Adventure and its later iteration, Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, where it is called the Jump Attack, it is performed in gameplay by pressing the B/X button in mid-jump. When obtaining the Long Hammer, the Jump Attack's range is greatly increased.

Sonic Advance series

Sonic Advance

In Sonic Advance, the Jump Attack is called the Jump Hammer (ジャンプハンマー, Janpuhanmā^?) in Japanese territory, but is unnamed in English manuals. To perform it in gameplay, the player has to press during a jump.

Sonic Advance 2

In Sonic Advance 2, the Jump Attack is called the Super Hammer Attack (ジャンプハンマー, Janpuhanmā^?, lit. "Jump Hammer"). To perform it in gameplay, the player has to press during a jump.

Sonic Advance 3

In Sonic Advance 2, the Jump Attack is called the Mid-Air Hammer Attack. In this game, Amy can only perform the Jump Attack if she is teamed up with Sonic, Knuckles, or Cream. TO perform it in gameplay with the right partner, the player has to press during a jump.
