The Kamemusi (カメムシ?)[note 1] is an enemy that appears in Sonic the Hedgehog CD. They are a beetle-based Badnik model created by Dr. Eggman.

Kamemusis are based on beetles and they resemble closely Moto Bugs. They have blue metallic round body with a round red disk covering their forehead, no limbs, and yellow wheels with red hubcaps near the rear. A pair of grey projectile cannons are located on their back. Below their forehead cover they have black and featureless faces except for a pair of black eyes. They also have yellow buttons on both sides of their head.

In Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Kamemusis only appear in Palmtree Panic. In gameplay, they roll back and forth. Eventually, they will stop to fire two sparkling projectiles from their cannons (similar to a Crabmeat), for then to repeat their pattern.

In the Bad Future or sometimes in the present timeframe of the Rounds, these Badniks have not decayed (unlike most other Badniks in the game) so their physical appearance remains the same. However, they move slower and cannot fire their projectiles despite trying to. Kamemusis can easily be defeated with a simple Spin Jump or Spin Attack. Like every Badnik in the game, they are powered by Little Planet flower seeds which will pop out of them after being defeated.

  • "Kamemusi" is the Japanese word for "stink bug."

  1. While not listed in any instruction manuals, the in-game source code in 1996 PC release of Sonic the Hedgehog CD refers to this Badnik as "kamemusi".
